Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/779 as amended, established a system fot the certification of entities responsible for maintenance (hereinafter referred to as “ECM certification”) including the maintenance functions, defined in Art. 14 par. 3 of the EP and Council Directive (EU) 2016/798 as amended. It applies to all vehicles, i.e. passenger, freight and traction rail vehicles and introduces the possibility of externally provided maintenance functions.
ŽOS Trnava, a.s. completed the certification of all four ECM functions (F1-management function, F2-maintenance development function, F3-maintenance management function and F4-maintenance delivery function) for trucks and passenger vehicles and control function certification for propulsion rail vehicles.
The certification process was provided by SCONRAIL AG from Switzerland, an accredited certificator based in Winterthur.
The very fact that the certification audit was carried out in two stages demonstrates that this process was difficult. The first stage focused on the ECM documentation and the second stage on the ECM processes between the different F1-F4 functions. The audit placed great emphasis on ‘ risk management ’ and ‘ safety-critical components ’.
ECM certificates entered into force on 13.7.2022 for five years. They have become objective evidence of the readiness of ŽOS Trnava, a.s. to meet the requirements of quality and safety on the railways, customer satisfaction and one of the basic and important pillars of competitiveness in the railway industry.
